The Role
The Development & Communications Coordinator plays a key role in building and executing fundraising campaigns, communicating with supporters, and keeping our systems organized and up to date. You’ll support the growth of Promise’s donor community, amplify our story, and help ensure smooth behind-the-scenes operations. The starting wage for this position is $24-$26 per hour. This is a permanent, part-time (10-12 hours per week) position, reporting to the Marketing & Communications Manager.
Key Responsibilities
1. Communications & Marketing
- Develop, write, and distribute regular email newsletters to supporters and stakeholders
- Assist in the creation and execution of minor and major fundraising campaigns
- Maintain and update website content to ensure accuracy and engagement
- Collaborate with program staff to ensure a cohesive and consistent social media presence
- Lead recruitment and engagement efforts for Eastside 10K runners and other participant-driven initiatives
- Coordinate logistics and communications for fundraising events
2. Development & Fundraising
- Draft and assist in the preparation of foundation and government grant applications
- Process and track tax receipts and donor acknowledgments
3. Admin & Data Management
- Perform donor database maintenance, including data cleaning and updates
- Collaborate with staff to keep records up to date and accurate
Key Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Excellent written communication skills, considering cultural and organizational contexts
- A keen eye for detail, with experience in editing, formatting, and data entry
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience with email marketing platforms, donor management systems, and basic website CMS tools
- Understanding of fundraising principles and best practices
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Ability to pass a CRRP (vulnerable sector) criminal record check
- Alignment with and passion for the mission and values of Promise Vancouver
Bonus points if you have…
- A post-secondary diploma or degree, preferably in Communications, Marketing, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Experience in the Downtown Eastside or similar communities
- Aptitude for digital design and/or layout
- Familiarity with platforms like Mailchimp, Salesforce, WordPress, Asana, and Cognito Forms
